We all know we should cut back on the salt. Our healthcare professionals tell most of us all the time. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, Too much salt can affect kidneys keeping up with the excess sodium in the bloodstream. As sodium accumulates, the body holds onto water to dilute the sodium. This increases both the amount of fluid surrounding cells and the volume of blood in the bloodstream. Increased blood volume means more work for the heart and more pressure on blood vessels. Over time, the extra work and pressure can stiffen blood vessels, leading to high blood pressure, heart attack or stroke. NO FUN!!
But, after all that medical stuff I still find myself wanting salt on my foods, but what would a suitable alternative be? One alternative that I have used over the past week is Salt For Life. This salt is a potassium-based salt, instead of your ordinary table salt being sodium-based.

What Does It Taste Like?
I have to say that I am a salt and sweet addicted person. I have to have my salt, and I will admit us way too much most of the time. Being able to find a great alternative that also gave me that “oh. My addiction has been settled feeling” is really an accomplishment on my part. *Pats myself on back*
The Salt For Life actually tastes just like salt. Everything you imagine salt to be that is the taste you will find in this product. To really taste the product the first time I just used it on some cucumbers and tomato slices fresh from the garden.
The texture of the salt was again everything you look for in salt; I did not find much difference myself except that the grains of salt were a bit bigger (this is extra fine). That is the only difference that I can really tell from the Salt For Life and regular table salt that we all use. This was not a deal breaker at all for me.
What Can You Use It On?
I used the Salt For Life on everything and anything. Everything from steaks, chicken, salad, pizza, veggies, popcorn and yes because I am weird I add salt to my ice cream. *hangs head in shame* This product worked well with everything!
In all, I would recommend trying out Salt For Life. I find that the taste and texture is no different from your everyday run of the mill, table salt.
